Navigate insurance.

How roof insurance claims actually work in Ohio. The factors that make or break your claim, explained by a roofer, not a salesman.

What affects your claim

Three things decide how your claim goes. Here's what to know about each before the adjuster shows up.

Decking types

Plywood, OSB, plank: your deck type changes what your insurance will cover and how much they pay. Older Columbus homes often have plank or spaced-board decking, and that changes the scope (and the price) of the job. We document decking conditions with photos so nothing gets missed.

Discontinued shingles

If your shingle isn't made anymore, your claim changes dramatically. Ohio is a "reasonable matching" state. If the existing shingles can't be matched, that can support a full replacement rather than a patchwork repair. We pull samples and check availability so you know where you stand.

Insurance carriers

Not all carriers handle claims the same way. We've worked storm claims with the big carriers in Ohio and know what each one expects to see: documentation, measurements, line items. We speak their language so you don't have to.

Storm damage? Don't wait. Document what you can from the ground, then call us. We'll inspect, photograph everything, and tell you honestly whether you have a claim worth filing.
